MacNichol Guitars has a blemished Breedlove Guitars Roots OM/SR model available. This guitar has some excess finish behind the bridge, which is barely noticeable. It appears as though there was a bit of bridge work done. Because of the high gloss finish, good pictures of the blemish are not possible. Other than this small cosmetic blemish, this guitar is in excellent condition. In particular, the top has a nice, straight, wide grain, that will likely result in a slightly bassier guitar over time. Please see the pictures below.
Because of the small cosmetic blemish, the guitar is being offered at a discounted price of $1,099, which includes hardshell case and free shipping within the continental U.S. There is nothing functionally wrong with this instrument and the sound is unaffected by the cosmetic blemish. The bracing, JLD bridge truss, bridge, woods, neck, neck truss, fingerboard, nut, and tuning machines are all fine.
If there is something functionally wrong with a guitar, Breedlove lists it as a “third”, and then saws out a part of the body and then sends the guitar to a dealer to show customers the Breedlove bracing and JLD bridge truss system. MacNichol’s Breedlove guitars third is a twelve-string and looks as though a shark took a big bite out of it.
Breedlove cosmetic blemishes still have the manufacturer’s warranty, however, the blemish is not covered in the warranty. Please call 1-800-849-3305 for more information. Thank You.

Here’s a brief comparison of the three models by Composite Acoustics:
The Xi has a narrower and thinner body. To my ear, the Xi is a bit more balanced, yet with the low, yet not overpowering bass that the i Series are known for. However, you won’t get near the volume or resonance from the Xi as you will from the GX or GXi.
The CA GX will sound the most like a “regular” guitar of the three, and has a relatively bright and balanced tone compared to the GXi.
The GXi is known for its deep, incredibly resonant bass that sounds like thunder in the distance. Those who love alternate tunings or a very deep bass will love the GXi. The GXi is unbelievable in Drop D and Double Drop D.

COMPOSITE ACOUSTICS (CA) has added a 12-string guitar to its line of great sounding, ultra-durable, high-end carbon fiber acoustic guitars. The new 12-string acoustic, featuring CA’s integrated top technology, is distinguished by remarkable balance up, down, and across the fretboard, as well as by a rich, warm tone with sparkling highs. In addition, CA has taken the worry out of tuning and capoing a 12 string instrument, which to this point has typically been a problem.
The first prototype of this 12-string was placed in the hands of legendary singer-songwriter Arlo Guthrie for testing. Guthrie consulted closely with Composite Acoustics to develop the finished model, which incorporates many of his ideas. The new 12-string comes standard with the LR Baggs Stage Pro pickup with built-in electronic tuner and is available in a high gloss finish in red, blue or charcoal. Like other Composite Acoustics guitars, this model makes use of proprietary carbon fiber technology that delivers excellent tone, high durability, and resistance to the elements in any environment.

Here are pictures of the blemished Breedlove Guitars Roots Series, OM Model, currently available at MacNichol. This particular guitar has a small area that is more lightly colored than the rest, on the upper bout, top side, near the neck. The blemish is only noticeable in the right light, and looking at it closely. Other than this small cosmetic blemish, this guitar is in mint condition.

CA Guitars (Composite Acoustics) has announced the release of its baritone guitar model. Here’s what CA says about the guitar, along with some pictures.
The Baritone guitar is a truly unique instrument with an amazing bottom end, remarkable balance up, down, and across the Fretboard, and a rich, warm tone with an awesome bass response. The Baritone is easily tunable down to C (two steps down from standard guitar tuning) - the tone tuned to open C will blow you away. We know that customers for this guitar will use a wide array of tunings and string gages, and our carbon fiber neck and top are especially suited to the varying stresses they will throw at this instrument.
The Baritone guitar comes standard with the LR Baggs Stage Pro pick-up with built in electronic tuner for easy tuning changes and is available in high gloss finish in Red, Blue or Charcoal.
